Competitions

Pitching Competitions are held after completing our PitchCamp training program, where pitchers are divided into two categories:

Pitch 101:  Your company is established and has traction or paying customers and is seeking angel investment (up to 5 spaces available). Pitching format is as follows:

  • 1 minute pitch
  • 2 minute Q&A with judges
  • 2 minute critique session with judges

Pitch 201: Your company is generating revenue and/or in the research stage and is or will be moving from angel investment to include venture capital rounds of investing (up to 5 spaces available). Pitching format is as follows:

  • 2 minute pitch
  • 2 minute Q&A with judges
  • 2 minute critique session with judges

After participating in the workshop, there is at least a week for the participants to practice and sharpen their pitches. Following this short break, each level hosts a competition with the following schedule.

Typically, the day starts off with an hour-long inspiring fireside chat between invited guests and the audience on a current topic like “Raising Capital or Finding Partners”. The chat is followed by a 30-minute networking break, then, up to 16 entrepreneurs pitch for one minute to a panel of experienced pitch-judges.  After each pitch the judges will provide direct feedback to the pitchers and the audience will be able to “text-vote” for their favourite pitcher. The pitch session is followed by a one-hour meet & greet session where the winners will be announced and given their prizes.

The winners are invited to compete against fellow entrepreneurs from across Atlantic Canada at Canada’s Pitch Competition, an annual multi-day workshop at the Invest Atlantic PitchCamp
